Dr. Christine Osgood, LMFT, M.Div., D.Min.
Founder of The Urban Retreat christine.urbanretreat@gmail.com |
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (board approved in the state of Minnesota). Over the last 20 years, I have traveled through clinical settings, academic environments, ministry contexts and consulting opportunities. Each provided a unique opportunity to observe what actually helps people grow and change in the journey of life.
I find it intriguing that many people reach the age of 21 and think they have arrived at mature adulthood. At the age of 21, I perceive people have simply crossed a threshold into adulthood and the rich and complex journey of soul development moves to a new level. I am most interested in adult development that empowers toward maturity, compassion, goodness, peace, patience, mindful living and courageous loving-kindness. This kind of development requires intentionality on the part of the individual. We don't simply become these things. My thinking and practice is heavily influenced by systems theory, developmental psychology, cognitive & behavioral neuroscience, mindfulness based reflection, ancient Christian contemplative practices and the life and teachings of a man name Jesus who lived thousands of years ago. He demonstrated a radical example of compassion, patience, goodness, mindful living and courageous loving-kindness that I hope all humans would embody. |
